BOMA/Chicago Invited to Participate in Governor’s Working Energy Group
After an initial postponement due to COVID, and a secondary delay in the wake of the ComEd Legislative scandal, Governor Pritzker has called for a resumption of the energy working groups. BOMA/Chicago was appointed to the Industrial/Buildings Working Group which will begin meeting on October 13.
Some of the issues to be discussed include:
* Whether and how to repeal ComEd and Ameren’s formula rates for “smart-grid” infrastructure investment;
* Whether ComEd should be prohibited from using rate payer money to fund charitable contributions. Over the last year, ComEd charitable contributions have totaled $20 million in the last year, $14 million of which were recovered from rate payers; and
* Examining existing and any future subsidies for Exelon to determine whether existing or future subsidies are warranted.
BOMA/Chicago continues to participate in working group meetings and will update members as new issues and outcomes arise.
